There are so many beautiful flowers that come out in the Spring and Summer. Some are great for cutting and enjoying inside but there are others that should be left to enjoy outside. Here are a few that you can enjoy inside.

Gerbera Daisy

A Gerbera Daisy Secret

So what is the secret to long-lasting, cut gerbera daisies? It’s really simple, this technique also works very well with many other cut flowers displayed in a glass vase.

Here’s the secret: Place your gerbera daisies in a vase in which the water is no more than about three quarters to one inch deep. An ideal vase is one that is a tall cylinder, so that the cut stem is inserted into a relatively large volume of shallow water. Be careful using a small vase with only a tiny amount of water at the bottom this may dry out and your gerbera daisy may wilt more quickly.

It turns out that cut gebera daisies can soak up water through their stems and essentially begin to weaken and decay if the water is too deep. By keeping only shallow water in the vase, this problem is reduced and the stems stay stronger much longer and continues to keep the flower robust.

Another simple little trick to extend the life of a gerbera daisy is to watch for the cut end of the stem to discolour and look like it is getting soggy. Just cut off a little bit of the stem so that the remaining stem is strong and your gerbera daisy will continue to look fresh longer, for weeks. Many other flowers also last longer when displayed as single stems or as a bouquet of the same flower. You may also ask your local Vancouver Florist for more fresh flowers tricks.

Easter Time

Blossom is a term given to the flowers of stone fruit trees (genus Rruns) and of some other plants with a similar appearance that flower profusely for a period of time in the Spring. I was out walking our 2 dogs (Phoenix & Mee) the other day and saw the beautiful blossoms starting to flower as a Vancouver Florist it was so nice to see. I smiled and thought to myself it's Spring! I love this time of year Winter is on its way out and Spring is here. As a Burnaby Florist with Easter coming this weekend it is so exciting to see all the Spring flowers at the flower auction. Easter lily, Anemones, and Tulips are a few of the lovely Spring flowers that we are seeing. At our Vancouver Florist we will be making up fun and unique Easter Baskets for the Easter weekend.

Spring Time

Tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. The big three in the bulb world are synonymous with spring.

Few spring gardens are not complete without the main show-off bulbs, but too little praise is given to the scores of other bulbs that also have their time in the sun. Many of these bulbs, if left on their own, will multiply over the years to make beautiful statements of spring colour.

You don't need a better reason to get outside than to just enjoy the beautiful nature that can be found right here in Vancouver. Once kids get out among the flowers, grass and trees they don't need an activity, somehow they find ways to entertain themselves.

Fall Flowers are on there way

Fall flowers are just as beautiful as spring and summer flowers. Autumn begins with summer flowers that are still in bloom.
There have even been many varieties developed to satisfy our urges for shades of oranges in the autumn season, many varieties have already been seen sporting shades of rust and amber, buckskin and burgundies. There are always new flowers hitting the market with saturated hues of oranges and purples so intense in colour that you could almost say that they have been helped along with some type of colour enhancement process.

Wedding Fun

White Bouquets
A white bouquet is a classic for sure. It will never go out of style. Traditional bouquets made of garden roses is a romantic and timeless choice. Kate Middleton’s Royal wedding bouquet was simple, yet chic and inspired other brides to follow suit with a simple stunning bouquet.

Tangerine Flowers
As the 2012 Pantone colour of the year, tangerine is making appearances everywhere. Flowers that come in this fun colour such as roses, gerbera daisies, freesia and dahlia, lilies and snapdragons. This is a bold choice for brides wanting something unique and different. It’s a nice change from all the pastels and vintage colours we’ve been seeing over the past years.

Bejeweled Bouquet
Bouquets sparkling with accents like jewels and brooches are gaining popularity with brides. This look is very glamourous and elegant. You can make your bouquet extra special by adding unique family heirlooms
